Hazel’s story is one of heartbreak, confusion, and ultimately, a second chance.

She was deeply loved by her owner, a local man who fell on hard times and had to leave her temporarily with a pet sitter. When he returned to get her, Hazel was pregnant—and soon after gave birth to 10 puppies. It was a situation no one expected, and not one she deserved. We were able to step in, take in 8 of the puppies (the woman would not surrender 2 of them), and after difficult conversations, her owner made the selfless decision to surrender Hazel to us so she could have the stable life she needs.

Despite everything, Hazel is exactly what you’d expect from a dog who was once truly loved. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting. Around 3 years old and 40 lbs, she’s a perfect medium size. She’s house trained, knows some tricks, and absolutely loves car rides.

Hazel is good with other dogs and has an easy, loving personality that makes her a joy to be around. She’s the kind of dog who settles right into your life and reminds you every day how special she is.

She is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines.
