Leo is a sweet big boy who would love nothing more than to find his forever home. He enjoys long walks, hikes (even in the snow!), and runs to get his energy out, but when he's at home he also knows how to be a big couch potato. His life mission is to become an expert snuggler and he is well on his way, always trying to get as close as possible to his human and lay on top of them with maximum surface area contact. He really thinks he's a lap dog, just in a big, gangly body!

Leo was adopted out by EHR as a puppy, but the family eventually brought him back realizing that they were not a good fit for a dog that young. He has come a long way since, but still has some behaviors of a young pup in an adult dog’s body. This includes jumping up- Leo can be clumsy in his movements still, and while he has loved around young kids, he does not know his own size and strength. A home with older children or adults would be best. Leo also  needs an active family.

Leo  is housebroken, can walk well on the leash with the right handling, and isn't very vocal. He is pretty prey driven, though, as hound mixes usually are and will occasionally lunge at birds and squirrels- he loses interest quickly once he realizes he can't get to them or catches a new smell to explore. He can be good with other dogs that match his size & energy, but playtime would absolutely need to be monitored and worked on as Leo does NOT take cues from other dogs when it is time to stop playing.  He should be placed as an only dog unless he gets training on this behavior.

He can be stubborn at times but is highly food motivated and will listen better if there are treats involved. He is such a good, sweet dog!
